Transmissionaries: A Talk with eteam at Roundabouts Now
I’m excited to be in conversation tomorrow afternoon with eteam (Franziska Lamprecht and Hajoe Moderegger) following a presentation of their artistic research over the last ten months in Taiwan. Their work explores the unexpected overlaps between Budaixi, traditional Taiwanese puppet theater, and handheld smart devices. They invoke religion, philosophy, storytelling methods, and GenAI tools to ask: Are there connections to be drawn between Puppet Stage and Social Feed, LLM’s and traditional speech patterns that generate and narrate epics, puppeteers and smart phone users, uploading and worshipping? Where do soul, processing power, artificial intelligence, and wisdom reside—and how are they transmitted? What can puppets do that humans can’t, and what roles do our human hands play in the production of the stories that shape our minds?
The presentation and conversation will take place at Roundabouts Now in Kingston, NY.
